The Lord Tells Abraham To Offer Isaac as a Sacrifice
1 Some years later God decided to test Abraham, so he spoke to him.
Abraham answered, “Here I am, Lord.”
2 The Lord said, “Go get Isaac, your only son, the one you dearly love! Take him to the land of Moriah, and I will show you a mountain where you must sacrifice him to me on the fires of an altar.” 3 So Abraham got up early the next morning and chopped wood for the fire. He put a saddle on his donkey and set out with Isaac and two servants for the place where God had told him to go.
4 Three days later Abraham looked off in the distance and saw the place. 5 He told his servants, “Stay here with the donkey, while my son and I go over there to worship. We will come back.”
6 Abraham put the wood on Isaac's shoulder, but he carried the hot coals and the knife. As the two of them walked along, 7-8 Isaac said, “Father, we have the coals and the wood, but where is the lamb for the sacrifice?”
“My son,” Abraham answered, “God will provide the lamb.”
The two of them walked on, and 9 when they reached the place that God had told him about, Abraham built an altar and placed the wood on it. Next, he tied up his son and put him on the wood. 10 He then took the knife and got ready to kill his son. 11 But the Lord's angel shouted from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”
“Here I am!” he answered.
12 “Don't hurt the boy or harm him in any way!” the angel said. “Now I know that you truly obey God, because you were willing to offer him your only son.”
13 Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in the bushes. So he took the ram and sacrificed it instead of his son.
14 Abraham named that place “The Lord Will Provide.” And even now people say, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”
15 The Lord's angel called out from heaven a second time:
16 You were willing to offer your only son to the Lord, and so he makes you this solemn promise, 17 “I will bless you and give you such a large family, that someday your descendants will be more numerous than the stars in the sky or the grains of sand along the seashore. They will defeat their enemies and take over the cities where their enemies live. 18 You have obeyed me, and so you and your descendants will be a blessing to all nations on earth.”
19 Abraham and Isaac went back to the servants who had come with him, and they returned to Abraham's home in Beersheba.
The Children of Nahor
20-23 Abraham's brother Nahor had married Milcah, and Abraham was later told that they had eight sons. Uz was their first-born; Buz was next, and then there was Kemuel the father of Aram; their other five sons were: Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel the father of Rebekah. 24 Nahor also had another wife. Her name was Reumah, and she had four sons: Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.

3 Wo saamoo soomandaa Iburayima wulita juuna. A ye sadaa ñiŋ janiraŋ loo bee kuntu. A ye a la faloo dunindi. Bituŋ a niŋ a dinkewo Isiyaaka wulita ka taa dulaa ñiŋ to, Alla ye meŋ na kuwo fo a ye. A niŋ a la dookuulaa moo fula le fanaa taata ñoo la. 4 Tili sabanjaŋ luŋo la, Iburayima ye a kuŋo wuli, a ye dulaa ñiŋ hayinaŋ a ñaato. 5 Bituŋ a ko a la dookuulaalu ye ko, “Alitolu ye tu jaŋ, ali niŋ faloo. Nte niŋ Isiyaaka be taa la jana le. M̀ be taa Alla batoo la jee, wo koolaa m̀ be naa muruŋ na naŋ ali kaŋ ne.”
6 Iburayima ye loo taa, sadaa be jani la meŋ na. A ye a laa a diŋo Isiyaaka kunto. Bituŋ ate faŋo ye dimbaa samba aniŋ muroo. Bituŋ ì moo fuloo bee taata ñoo la.
7 Isiyaaka ko a faamaa Iburayima ye ko, “M faa!” Bituŋ a ko a ye ko, “M fele jaŋ, n dinkewo.” A ko a ye ko, “Dimbaa niŋ loo be jaŋ ne, bari saajiiriŋo lee, meŋ be ke la jani sadaa ti?”
8 Iburayima ko a ye ko, “N dinkewo, Alla faŋo le be saajiiriŋo dii la, meŋ be ke la jani sadaa ti.” Wo le to ì moo fuloo bee tententa ka taa ñoo la.
9 Kabiriŋ ì futata dulaa ñiŋ to, Alla ye daameŋ na kuwo fo a ye, Iburayima ye sadaabodulaa* loo jee. A ye loo jurumi a kaŋ. Bituŋ a ye a diŋo Isiyaaka siti, a ye a laa wo sadaabodulaa loo kaŋ santo. 10 Iburayima ye muroo sika ka naa a diŋo kanateyi doroŋ, 11 Yaawe* la malaayikoo naata Iburayima kumandi ka bo santo ko, “Iburayima, Iburayima!” Iburayima ko, “M fele.”
12 A ko a ye ko, “I buloo kana maa ñiŋ kambaanendiŋo la, waraŋ ka feŋ ke a la. Saayiŋ ŋa a loŋ ne ko, i ye Alla ñaasilaŋo soto le, baawo i maŋ balaŋ ka i dinkee kiliŋo ke sadaa ti n ye.”
13 Bituŋ Iburayima ye a kuŋo wuli, a ye saakotoŋo je, a binoo be marandiŋ ñunkoo kono. Iburayima taata, a ye a taa jee, a ye a bo jani sadaa ti, ka ke a dinkewo jooseyiraŋo ti. 14 Iburayima ye wo dulaa toolaa, “Yaawe faŋo le be a dii la.” Hani bii ì ka a fo wo le ñaama, “Yaawe la konkoo kaŋ, a be a dii la le.”
15 Yaawe la malaayikoo ye Iburayima kumandi siiñaa fulanjaŋo la ka bo santo, 16 a ko a ye ko, “Yaawe ye ñiŋ ne bankee ko, ‘N kalita m faŋo le la i la ñiŋ kuwo kewo kaŋ: bayiri i maŋ i dinkee kiliŋo siyaa n ye sadaa ti, 17 m be neema la i ma, aduŋ m be i koomalankoolu siyandi la komeŋ looloolu, aniŋ komeŋ bankumunkoo, aduŋ i koomalankoolu be ì jawoolu noo la le. 18 Duniyaa moo koteŋolu bee be neemoo soto la ka bo niŋ i koomoo le la, kaatu i ye n na yaamaroo muta le.’ ”
19 Iburayima muruta a la dookuulaalu kaŋ, a niŋ ì taata ñoo la Beeriseba. A sabatita jee le to.
Nahori koomalankoolu
20 Waati doo naata soto, kumoo futata Iburayima ma ko, “Milika fanaa ye diŋolu wuluu i doomaa Nahori la le: 21 Usi le mu diŋ foloo ti, a doomaa Busi, Kemuweli, Aramu faamaa, 22 Kesedi, Haso, Pilidasi, Yidilafi, aniŋ Betuweli.” 23 Betuweli naata ke Rebeka faamaa ti. Ñiŋ moo seyoo, Milika ye wolu le wuluu Nahori la, Iburayima doomaa. 24 A la kaŋ foroyandi musoo*, meŋ too mu Rewuma ti, ye Teba le wuluu a la, Kahamu, Tahasi aniŋ Maaka.
