A Funeral Song for Israel's Leaders
The Lord said:
1 Ezekiel, sing a funeral song for two of Israel's leaders:
2 Your mother was a brave lioness
who raised her cubs
among lions.
3 She taught one of them to hunt,
and he learned to eat people.
4 When the nations heard of him,
they trapped him in a pit,
then they used hooks
to drag him to Egypt.
5 His mother waited
for him to return.
But soon she lost all hope
and raised another cub,
who also became fierce.
6 He hunted with other lions
and learned to eat people.
7 He destroyed fortresses
and ruined towns;
his mighty roar
terrified everyone.
8 Nations plotted to kill him,
and people came from all over
to spread out a net
and catch him in a trap.
9 They put him in a cage
and took him to Babylonia.
The lion was locked away,
so that his mighty roar
would never again be heard
on Israel's hills.
10 Your mother was a vine like you,
growing near a stream.
There was plenty of water,
so she was filled with branches
and with lots of fruit.
11 Her strong branches
became symbols of authority,
and she was taller
than all other trees—
everyone could see how strong
and healthy she was.
12 But in anger, I pulled her up
by the roots
and threw her to the ground,
where the scorching desert wind
dried out her fruit.
Her strong branches wilted
and burned up.
13 Then she was planted
in a hot, dry desert,
14 where her stem caught fire,
and flames burned
her branches and fruit.
Not one strong branch is left;
she is stripped bare.
This funeral song must be sung with sorrow.

ka taa Misira bankoo kaŋ.
5 Kabiriŋ jatamusoo ye a je ko,
jikoo maŋ tara a la kuwolu to kotenke,
a jikilateyita,
a ye a diŋ doo tomboŋ
ka a karandi ka ke jata kamaliriŋo ti.
6 A ka yaayiŋ-yaayiŋ jatoolu kono,
bayiri saayiŋ a kamalita le.
A jarinteeyaata, a ka daafeŋolu muta, ka ì faa,
aniŋ a ka hadamadiŋolu domo.
7 A ye ì la tatoolu bee boyi,
ka ì la saatewolu kasaara.
Bankoolu niŋ ì konokono feŋolu bee le silata

8 Bituŋ bankoolu wulita a kamma,
ka bo a dandaŋ na tundoolu bee to.
Ì ye jaloo laa a ye,
a naata duŋ ì la jaloo kono.
9 Ì ye a kuruntu niŋ dooliŋo la,
ka a dundi daafeŋ buŋo kono jee,
ka a samba Babiloni mansa yaa.
Ì ye a soroŋ buŋ jawoo kono.
Bituŋ moo maŋ naa a bumbuŋ kaŋo moyi kotenke,
Banisirayila konkoolu kaŋ.
10 “I baamaa ka muluŋ ne ko yiri kendoo
yiri kankaŋo kono,
jiyo siyaata daameŋ.
A ka diŋ jamaa le diŋ,
bulu jamaa ka soroŋ a bala,
feŋ teŋ fo jiyo la siyaa kamma.
11 A buloolu bambanta le
ì ka ke noo mansa dokoo ti le faŋ.
A suŋo jamfata
fo a be naa saŋo maa la,
a buloolu warata.
A la jamfoo niŋ a yiribuloolu la siyaañaa,
moo bee le ka a je noo.
12 Bari ì naata a wutu kamfaa le kono,
ka a fayi duuma,
tilibo foño kandoo ye a norondi.
Ì ye a diŋolu bee wafu a bala.
A juu bambandiŋo norota,
dimbaa ye yiroo bee buruburu.
13 Saayiŋ ì ye a tutu keñewuloo* le kono,
bankoo meŋ be jaariŋ, jii te jee.
14 Dimbaa le ye a juwo muta,
a ye a diŋolu niŋ a buloolu bee jani.
Hani bulu bambandiŋ kiliŋ ne maŋ tu a bala,
meŋ si ke noo mansa dokoo ti.”
Ñiŋ mu niikuyaa suukuwo le ti, aduŋ a ka laa niikuyaa le kono.
