Various Laws for the Ruler and the People
1 The Lord said:
The east gate of the inner courtyard must remain closed during the six working days of each week. But on the Sabbath and on the first day of the month, this gate will be opened. 2 Israel's ruler will go from the outer courtyard into the entrance room of this gate and stand in the doorway while the priest offers sacrifices to ask my blessing and sacrifices to please me. The ruler will bow with his face to the ground to show that he has worshiped me. Then he will leave, and the gate will remain open until evening.
3 Each Sabbath and on the first day of each month, the people of Israel must also come to the east gate and worship me. 4 On the Sabbath, the ruler will bring six lambs and one ram to be offered as sacrifices to please me. There must be nothing wrong with any of these animals. 5 With the ram, he is to offer nine kilograms of grain, and with each of the lambs, he can offer as much as he wants. He must also offer three liters of olive oil with every nine kilograms of grain.
6 The ruler is to bring six lambs, a bull, and a ram to be offered as sacrifices at the New Moon Festival. There must be nothing wrong with any of these animals. 7 With the bull and the ram, he is to offer nine kilograms of grain, and with each of the lambs, he can offer as much as he wants. He must also offer three liters of olive oil with every nine kilograms of grain. 8 The ruler must come through the entrance room of the east gate and leave the same way.
9 When my people come to worship me during any festival, they must always leave by the opposite gate from which they came: Those who come in the north gate must leave by the south gate, and those who come in the south gate must leave by the north gate. 10 Their ruler will come in at the same time they do and leave at the same time they leave.
11 At all other festivals and celebrations, nine kilograms of grain will be offered with a bull, and nine kilograms will be offered with a ram. The worshipers can offer as much grain as they want with each lamb. Three liters of olive oil must be offered with every nine kilograms of grain.
12 If the ruler voluntarily offers a sacrifice to please me or to ask my blessing, the east gate of the inner courtyard will be opened for him. He will offer his sacrifices just as he does on each Sabbath; then he will leave, and the gate will be closed.
13 Each morning a year-old lamb that has nothing wrong with it must be offered as a sacrifice to please me. 14 Along with it, two kilograms of fine flour mixed with a liter of olive oil must be offered as a grain sacrifice. This law will never change— 15 the lamb, the flour, and the olive oil will be offered to me every morning for all time.
Laws about the Ruler's Land
16 The Lord God said:
If the ruler of Israel gives some of his land to one of his children, it will belong to the ruler's child as part of the family property. 17 But if the ruler gives some of his land to one of his servants, the land will belong to the servant until the Year of Celebration, when it will be returned to the ruler. Only the ruler's children can keep what is given to them.
18 The ruler must never abuse my people by taking land from them. Any land he gives his children must already belong to him.
The Sacred Kitchens
19 The man who was showing me the temple then took me back to the inner courtyard. We walked to the south side of the courtyard and stopped at the door to the sacred rooms that belonged to the priests. He showed me more rooms at the western edge of the courtyard 20 and said, “These are the kitchens where the priests must boil the meat to be offered as sacrifices to make things right and as sacrifices for sin. They will also bake the grain for sacrifices in these kitchens. That way, these sacred offerings won't have to be carried through the outer courtyard, where someone could accidentally touch them and be harmed.”
21 We went back to the outer courtyard and walked past the four corners. 22 At each corner I saw a smaller courtyard, 20 meters long and 15 meters wide. 23 Around the inside of these smaller courtyards was a low wall of stones, and against the wall were places to build fires. 24 The man said, “These are the kitchens where the temple workers will boil the meat that worshipers offer as sacrifices.”

1 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: La porte du parvis intérieur, du côté de l’orient, restera fermée les six jours ouvriers; mais elle sera ouverte le jour du sabbat, elle sera aussi ouverte le jour de la nouvelle lune. 2 Le prince entrera par le chemin du vestibule de la porte extérieure, et se tiendra près des poteaux de la porte; les sacrificateurs offriront son holocauste et ses sacrifices d’actions de grâces; il se prosternera sur le seuil de la porte, puis il sortira, et la porte ne sera pas fermée avant le soir. 3 Le peuple du pays se prosternera devant l’Éternel à l’entrée de cette porte, aux jours de sabbat et aux nouvelles lunes. 4 L’holocauste que le prince offrira à l’Éternel, le jour du sabbat, sera de six agneaux sans défaut et d’un bélier sans défaut; 5 et son offrande, d’un épha pour le bélier, et de ce qu’il voudra pour les agneaux, avec un hin d’huile par épha. 6 Le jour de la nouvelle lune, il offrira un jeune taureau sans défaut, six agneaux et un bélier qui seront sans défaut; 7 et son offrande sera d’un épha pour le taureau, d’un épha pour le bélier, et de ce qu’il voudra pour les agneaux, avec un hin d’huile par épha. 8 Lorsque le prince entrera, il entrera par le chemin du vestibule de la porte, et il sortira par le même chemin. 9 Mais lorsque le peuple du pays se présentera devant l’Éternel, aux solennités, celui qui entrera par la porte septentrionale pour se prosterner sortira par la porte méridionale, et celui qui entrera par la porte méridionale sortira par la porte septentrionale; on ne devra pas s’en retourner par la porte par laquelle on sera entré, mais on sortira par celle qui lui est opposée. 10 Le prince entrera parmi eux quand ils entreront, et sortira quand ils sortiront. 11 Aux fêtes et aux solennités, l’offrande sera d’un épha pour le taureau, d’un épha pour le bélier, et de ce qu’il voudra pour les agneaux, avec un hin d’huile par épha. 12 Si le prince offre à l’Éternel un holocauste volontaire ou un sacrifice volontaire d’actions de grâces, on lui ouvrira la porte qui est du côté de l’orient, et il offrira son holocauste et son sacrifice d’actions de grâces comme il doit le faire le jour du sabbat; puis il sortira, et l’on fermera la porte après qu’il sera sorti. 13 Tu offriras chaque jour en holocauste à l’Éternel un agneau d’un an, sans défaut; tu l’offriras tous les matins. 14 Tu y joindras pour offrande, tous les matins, un sixième d’épha, et le tiers d’un hin d’huile pour pétrir la farine. C’est l’offrande à l’Éternel, une loi perpétuelle, pour toujours. 15 On offrira, tous les matins, l’agneau et l’offrande avec l’huile, comme holocauste perpétuel.
V. 16-18: cf. Éz 45:7-9.16 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Si le prince fait à l’un de ses fils un don pris sur son héritage, ce don appartiendra à ses fils, ce sera leur propriété comme héritage. 17 Mais s’il fait à l’un de ses serviteurs un don pris sur son héritage, ce don lui appartiendra jusqu’à l’année de la liberté, puis il retournera au prince; ses fils seuls posséderont ce qu’il leur donnera de son héritage. 18 Le prince ne prendra rien de l’héritage du peuple, il ne le dépouillera pas de ses possessions; ce qu’il donnera en héritage à ses fils, il le prendra sur ce qu’il possède, afin que nul parmi mon peuple ne soit éloigné de sa possession.
V. 19-24: cf. Éz 40:38-46.19 Il me conduisit, par l’entrée qui était à côté de la porte, dans les chambres saintes destinées aux sacrificateurs, vers le septentrion. Et voici, il y avait un lieu dans le fond, du côté de l’occident. 20 Il me dit: C’est le lieu où les sacrificateurs feront cuire la chair des sacrifices de culpabilité et d’expiation, et où ils feront cuire les offrandes, pour éviter de les porter dans le parvis extérieur et de sanctifier le peuple. 21 Il me conduisit ensuite dans le parvis extérieur, et me fit passer vers les quatre angles du parvis. Et voici, il y avait une cour à chacun des angles du parvis. 22 Aux quatre angles du parvis il y avait des cours voûtées, longues de quarante coudées et larges de trente; toutes les quatre avaient la même mesure, dans les angles. 23 Un mur les entourait toutes les quatre, et des foyers étaient pratiqués au bas du mur tout autour. 24 Il me dit: Ce sont les cuisines, où les serviteurs de la maison feront cuire la chair des sacrifices offerts par le peuple.
