Special Privileges for Priests and Levites
(Numbers 18.8-32)Moses said to Israel:
1 The people of the Levi tribe, including the priests, will not receive any land. Instead, they will receive part of the sacrifices that are offered to the Lord, 2 because he has promised to provide for them in this way.
3 When you sacrifice a bull or sheep, the priests will be given the shoulder, the jaws, and the stomach. 4 In addition, they will receive the first part of your grain harvest and part of your first batches of wine and olive oil. You must also give them the first wool that is cut from your sheep each year. 5 Give these gifts to the priests, because the Lord has chosen them and their descendants out of all the tribes of Israel to be his special servants at the place of worship.
6 Any Levite can leave his hometown, and go to the place where the Lord chooses to be worshiped, 7 and then be a special servant of the Lord there, just like all the other Levites. 8 Some Levites may have money from selling family possessions, and others may not. But all Levites serving at the place of worship will receive the same amount of food from the sacrifices and gifts brought by the people.
Don't Do Disgusting Things
Moses said to Israel:
9 Soon you will go into the land that the Lord your God is giving you. The nations that live there do things that are disgusting to the Lord, and you must not follow their example. 10-11 Don't sacrifice your son or daughter. And don't try to use any kind of magic or witchcraft to tell fortunes or to cast spells or to talk with spirits of the dead.
12 The Lord is disgusted with anyone who does these things, and that's why he will help you destroy the nations that are in the land. 13 Never be guilty of doing any of these disgusting things!
A Prophet like Moses
Moses said to Israel:
14 You will go in and take the land from nations that practice magic and witchcraft. But the Lord your God won't allow you to do those things. 15 Instead, he will choose one of your own people to be a prophet just like me, and you must do what that prophet says. 16 You were asking for a prophet the day you were gathered at Mount Sinai and said to the Lord, “Please don't let us hear your voice or see this terrible fire again—if we do, we will die!”
17 Then the Lord told me:
Moses, they have said the right thing. 18 So when I want to speak to them, I will choose one of them to be a prophet like you. I will give my message to that prophet, who will tell the people exactly what I have said. 19 Since the message comes from me, anyone who doesn't obey the message will have to answer to me.
20 But if I haven't spoken, and a prophet claims to have a message from me, you must kill that prophet, and you must also kill any prophet who claims to have a message from another god.
Moses said to Israel:
21 You may be asking yourselves, “How can we tell if a prophet's message really comes from the Lord?” 22 You will know, because if the Lord says something will happen, it will happen. And if it doesn't, you will know that the prophet was falsely claiming to speak for the Lord. Don't be afraid of any prophet whose message doesn't come from the Lord.
Les droits des sacrificateurs et des Lévites

La 3:24.1 Les sacrificateurs, les Lévites, la tribu entière de Lévi, n’auront ni part ni héritage avec Israël; ils se nourriront des sacrifices consumés par le feu en l’honneur de l’Éternel et de l’héritage de l’Éternel. 2 Ils n’auront point d’héritage au milieu de leurs frères: l’Éternel sera leur héritage, comme il le leur a dit. 3 Voici quel sera le droit des sacrificateurs sur le peuple, sur ceux qui offriront un sacrifice, un bœuf ou un agneau: on donnera au sacrificateur l’épaule, les mâchoires et l’estomac. 4 Tu lui donneras les prémices de ton blé, de ton moût et de ton huile, et les prémices de la toison de tes brebis; 5 car c’est lui que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, a choisi entre toutes les tribus, pour qu’il fasse le service au nom de l’Éternel, lui et ses fils, à toujours. 6 Lorsque le Lévite quittera l’une de tes portes, le lieu quelconque où il demeure en Israël, pour se rendre, selon la plénitude de son désir, au lieu que choisira l’Éternel, 7 et qu’il fera le service au nom de l’Éternel, ton Dieu, comme tous ses frères les Lévites qui se tiennent là devant l’Éternel, 8 il recevra pour sa nourriture une portion égale à la leur, et jouira, en outre, des revenus de la vente de son patrimoine.
La divination et la magie

Ép 5:11.9 Lorsque tu seras entré dans le pays que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne, tu n’apprendras point à imiter les abominations de ces nations-là. 10 Qu’on ne trouve chez toi personne qui fasse passer son fils ou sa fille par le feu, personne qui exerce le métier de devin, d’astrologue, d’augure, de magicien, 11 d’enchanteur, personne qui consulte ceux qui évoquent les esprits ou disent la bonne aventure, personne qui interroge les morts. 12 Car quiconque fait ces choses est en abomination à l’Éternel; et c’est à cause de ces abominations que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, va chasser ces nations devant toi. 13 Tu seras entièrement à l’Éternel, ton Dieu. 14 Car ces nations que tu chasseras écoutent les astrologues et les devins; mais à toi, l’Éternel, ton Dieu, ne le permet pas.
Les prophètes

(Jn 4:29; 9:17.)15 L’Éternel, ton Dieu, te suscitera du milieu de toi, d’entre tes frères, un prophète comme moi: vous l’écouterez! 16 Il répondra ainsi à la demande que tu fis à l’Éternel, ton Dieu, à Horeb, le jour de l’assemblée, quand tu disais: Que je n’entende plus la voix de l’Éternel, mon Dieu, et que je ne voie plus ce grand feu, afin de ne pas mourir. 17 L’Éternel me dit: Ce qu’ils ont dit est bien. 18 Je leur susciterai du milieu de leurs frères un prophète comme toi, je mettrai mes paroles dans sa bouche, et il leur dira tout ce que je lui commanderai. 19 Et si quelqu’un n’écoute pas mes paroles qu’il dira en mon nom, c’est moi qui lui en demanderai compte. 20 Mais le prophète qui aura l’audace de dire en mon nom une parole que je ne lui aurai point commandé de dire, ou qui parlera au nom d’autres dieux, ce prophète-là sera puni de mort. 21 Peut-être diras-tu dans ton cœur: Comment connaîtrons-nous la parole que l’Éternel n’aura point dite? 22 Quand ce que dira le prophète n’aura pas lieu et n’arrivera pas, ce sera une parole que l’Éternel n’aura point dite. C’est par audace que le prophète l’aura dite: n’aie pas peur de lui.
