As we stand on the threshold of a new year, it is fitting to pause and reflect on the countless ways God has shown His goodness and kindness to us throughout the past twelve months. Every heartbeat, every sunrise, and every answered prayer is a testament to His unfailing love and grace.

The psalmist declares in Psalm 145:9, “The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made.” Indeed, as we look back, we can see His hand at work in our lives and in the lives of those around us.

A Year of Challenges and Triumphs

This year may have brought its share of challenges. Perhaps there were moments of uncertainty, loss, or difficulty. Yet, even in the valleys, God’s presence has been a constant source of comfort. In Isaiah 41:10, He assures us, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” How often have we felt His peace that surpasses all understanding, guiding us through the storms?

On the other hand, there have been victories—big and small—that remind us of His faithfulness. Whether it was a breakthrough in health, restoration in relationships, or a simple moment of joy, every blessing points back to the Giver of all good things.

Gratitude as Worship

As we close this chapter, let our hearts overflow with gratitude. Gratitude is not just a response to blessings; it is an act of worship. Take a moment to recount the milestones, the answered prayers, and the times when God’s timing proved perfect. Write them down, share them with loved ones, or lift them up in prayer.

Psalm 100:4 invites us to “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.” As we recount His goodness, may our gratitude draw us closer to Him.

Moving Forward in Faith

While we celebrate God’s faithfulness in the past, we also look forward with hope. The same God who carried us through this year will walk with us into the next. Hebrews 13:8 reminds us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” We can step into the new year with confidence, knowing that His plans for us are good.

As we bid farewell to this year, let us do so with hearts full of praise and eyes fixed on the One who holds the future. Truly, His goodness and kindness will follow us all the days of our lives (Psalm 23:6).
